Roof collapse kills 113 – among the victims a former MLB player

The Dominican Republic nightclub called ‘Jet Set’ suffered a collapse during a night of partying and merriment when over 400 or so club goers experienced a roof collapse. For reasons still unknown to investigators, the club suffered some a structural anomaly. Many prominent persons were in attendance according to reports.

113 people were dead after the tragic roof collapse, which saw a devastating collapse of the roof structure, which began raining down on club patrons. Many survivors scrambled to safety, but this is one of the worst tragedies of it’s kind. Roof collapses are not all that common.

Ex-MLB player Octavio Dotel and others died in the accidental collapse. Dotel started his career with the Astros for 5 seasons, then he went on to many other teams to pitch, mainly on 1-year deals.

Also among the victims was Nelsy Cruz, governor of Monte Cristi province, President Luis Abinader said. She was the sister of former baseball player Nelson Cruz, a seven-time Major League Baseball All-Star.
