If you have never been to an Opening Day and you are a big baseball fan, go at least once in your lifetime! You won’t be disappointed and the Phillies didn’t disappoint their fans yesterday with a 6-1 win against a team that has been awfully bad for quite a few years now, the Colorado Rockies.
Fun filled the air, as tailgaters gathered and spent the afternoon up until game time being with friends, and enjoying a beverage or two and maybe even a meal of hotdogs or grilled items, if you were in the parking lot around the stadium that allows for that sort of activity.
The main attraction of this opening day carnival was ‘The Phillies’ – and they delivered the win. The game was tied up until pretty late in the game. The Phils needed the Rockies to dip into their bullpen… then the team erupted into what turned out to be a 6-1 final. Before the pitching change, though this was a very close game that possibly could have gone either way.
We will take the win though, Kepler and Castellanos…. doesn’t that sound like a law firm? Lol …. They were the stars of the game, and of yeah, it didn’t hurt to have Sanchez on the mound for the Phillies as he consistently gives the Phillies offense a good chance to stay close in a ballgame. Sprinkle in a few hits from some other Phillies and you had the recipe for the first home game win of the year, and the Opening Day crowd went home happy! What more could you ask for if you are a Phillies fan either there at the park, or sitting at home, or even tuning in from work.
Game 2 picks up tomorrow, it’s Wheeler going for the Phillies, look for the winning homestand to continue. The Eagles sent some representatives of their team to bring over the Lombardi trophy to inspire these Phillies to do the same in baseball…. well, a 162 game season is not exactly a 17 game or 16 game season, but you get the hint, it’s time for the Phillies to bring home a World Championship to the city. If nothing else but to get us ready for next year, which is the important anniversary of our country, the Phillies will be hosting the All-Star Game, and all eyes will be on this city in the baseball world next year during the All Star Weekend. But let’s not rush things, it’s still ’25 and we have to win the championship this year in order to really kick off a celebration for this really great season that will be in 2026. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ups and downs of Phillies baseball … I know I will!
