Phillies are poised to make the playoffs again!

It’s down to one, that is the number the Phillies need to return to the playoffs, just one more win and the Phils are back in the playoffs. It’s back-to-back for them, as last year was a storybook finish that saw the team go to the World Series.

The Phillies can clinch it on Tuesday night at home vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates. In a season that saw the Phillies essentially have a mirror type of season, the ups and the downs, they really didn’t dominate teams this year, they are 87-69 on the year. The team’s longest winning streak all season has been 6 games, which they did twice both times in June. The Phillies had their best month in June as well going 18-8 for a .692 winning percentage.

It’s looking like the first opponent for the Phillies will be the Arizona Diamondbacks. This year the Phillies have a 4-3 record against the Diamondbacks. The Phillies will have a home-field advantage in the series that should start on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd. Looking ahead, if they can beat Arizona, they will face the Braves who have lit the world on fire, but just maybe the home-field advantage that they will have in the playoffs may cool them off a little as they wait for the winner of the Wild Card team.
