The Phillies have had a rough time against their West Coast foes, the San Francisco Giants. The team did earn a decisive win last night against them, but prior to last night, the Phils lost 12 out of the last 15 (since 2021) games to the Giants. I didn’t realize it was that bad until I heard someone say that. The Giants had won 6-straight in Philadelphia prior to last night’s 10-4 loss.

Nola’s last start was a ND in Toronto on 8/16/23, he gave up 4 ER and 4 H and the Phillies did go on to win that game, 9-4, but Nola didn’t get the win. Coming into last night’s game Nola was 4-3 at home with a 3.59 ERA, there have been a lot of rumblings among fans when it’s concerning Aaron Nola and what we have seen from him this year.
The Giants manager, Gabe Kapler, the former Phillies manager, has been with the Giants for a few years now, he is in his 4th season as manager of the Giants. The Giants have been on a tough road trip so far, facing first the Atlanta Braves which they lost 2 of 3 to, and now the Phillies in a three-game series. Game 2 is tonight at 6:40 PM with Taijuan Walker on the mound for the Phillies going up against Kyle Harrison in his MLB debut.
With the win last night, it gave the Phillies a little cushion in the Wild Card race, they are now +3.0 games ahead in that Wild Card race.
