The Phillies did something they couldn’t do all last year, and no, it wasn’t winning the World Series, of course, it was beating the Cubs in a series. The Cubs somehow held some sort of mojo over the Phillies as it was the first time in a year that the Phils ended up winning a series over them. The Cubs had beaten the Phillies 7-times in a row, in a streak that stretched back to 2022, when the Phils were 0-6 vs the Cubbies. The Phils had a respectable 5-2 record vs. the Cubs for 2021.
Big effort in the series win goes to Bryson Stott, who came off of the bench to launch a 2-run homer that helped the Phils seal the 2-1 win.

Wheeler’s record is 3-3 with a 4.06 ERA so far in 2023. Zach’s last start ended in a loss over the San Francisco Giants, he pitched 6.0 innings, 9 H, and 4 ER.
The Phillies are now 22-24 on the season as they look to again get to .500 or better to start accomplishing something this season. So far, it’s been not that great in the see-saw winning and then losing streaks that we’ve seen from this year’s team so far.
