Phils in Colorado for weekend series

Locally, it was the Sixers last night, they couldn’t get it done on the court to return to the NBA Finals after many years, and now it will all come down to a Game 7 for them in Boston on Sunday. But for baseball fans, the Phils are out in Colorado to face the Rockies for a 3-game series starting tonight at 8:40 PM EDT.

It’s May 12th and the offense leader on this Phillies team is Nick Castellanos, with a 1.5 WAR so far in 2023. The other day on MLB Central on the MLB Network, there was a great breakdown by Mark DeRosa of exactly what has changed with Nick so far in relation to his batting stance and the way he is hitting the ball:

The Rockies are in the basement of the NL West with a 16-22 record so far, they are 7-9 at home. The Phillies handled the Rockies in 3-4 games at Citizens Bank Park back on April 20-23 of the season. This will be the last meeting in the regular season between the two ballclubs. The catcher for the Rockies, Elias Diaz is leading the team in BA at .333 going into the game tonight, and C.J. Cron leads the team in HRs with 6 so far this season.

Phillies pitcher Taijuan Walker will look to improve his 3-2 record tonight, after giving a great start in his last outing for the Phillies at home. On May 7th, Walker pitched 6.0 innings and gave up just 1 ER with 6 K’s in the 6-1 win over Boston.
