As I’ve said here on the blog and on Twitter which by the way you can join in, my name there is @fightinphillies, who would have thought in April or May that the Phillies would battle all the way into the World Series this season? It’s like a dream still, and even though the team lost, we have a whole lot to be thankful for.

The Phillies split $25.8 million dollars for making it into the World Series this year, which was the equivalent of 72 full shares, 15.03 partial shares, and $20,000 cash awards. So that is a lot of money to go around to the players and others that share in the pool of money that they get to divide.

Full shares were $296,255 each for the Phillies this year, so that was a great holiday time bonus to all the players and coaches who got a full share. In contrast in 2008, the Phillies winning shares of the prize money was $351,504 per share. And the Houston Astros this year had a winning share amount of $516,347 each for full shares for the World Series winners.

The fans got treated to a magical run for a World Series run this year, the fact that no one expected the team to be there in October made it all the sweeter. The free agent market has a few interesting options, can the Phils pick up a few needed pieces and make it back to the World Series in 2023? Only the baseball gods know, the possibilities are there. Who will join Bryce Harper, J.T. Realmuto, Rhys Hoskins, Zack Wheeler, and Aaron Nola in ’23 to make it happen?

Have a great holiday season everyone, don’t forget to check in here and on the podcast, coverage of the team is year-round! Take care and be well, send me an email if you like, rich@fightinphillies.com
