Rainout last night for Game 3 is downright ‘spooky’

Ok, as I have said on social media yesterday, it was to be a great day on tap. We had the Game 3 matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Houston Astros lined up, we had a $1B lottery being drawn, and of course, it was Halloween! Phillies pitcher, Noah Syndergaard, was supposed to be on the mound for the Phils. His last start in the postseason was on October 15th for the Phils ended in a win for the team, he pitched 3.0 innings and had 3 strikeouts.

Well, the Phils and Astros just happened to have a rainout last night, as a storm moved slowly through the area around the time that the game was supposed to be played. This storm was well documented by the weather bureaus as far as timing was concerned. If the game had been moved to 3 PM, we would have been talking about the results of Game 3 today and not the rain out. But it wasn’t. So we have Game 3 starting up on November 1st (even though there are still showers in the area as of the a.m.).

Castellanos is still due a ‘great game’ for Phils in World Series, is it tonight?

Ok, that is sorted out, now onto the ‘spooky’ part. No, it’s not about Halloween. This one is about the Phillies and rainouts in the World Series. Matt Gelb, the MLB beat writer for The Athletic, tweeted this last night:

What are the odds of all these World Series games in Philadelphia being either delayed by rain or postponed? It must be astronomical. All Game 3 and in some way affected by the weather. It kind of makes you wonder if the baseball gods have something to say about the Phillies ‘Game 3’ appearances. Whatever the case, the World Series carries on tonight in Philadelphia, November 1st, at 8:03 PM for the first pitch.

Last night at Citizens Bank Park, the winner of the Roberto Clemente Award was announced for 2022. It was Justin Turner #10 of the Los Angeles Dodgers getting the award.. Hardly recognized him from the photo, he cleaned up well for the award presentation!
