Long drought for playoffs ends for Phils with Wild Card berth

Well, the wait is over for Phillies fans and the playoffs. The Phils are in after beating the Houston Astros last night in Houston, as the Milwaukee Brewers pulled off a miracle in Milwaukee to come back when they were down twice late in the game, but it ended up to be nothing but a great victory for them, it would not help them get into the playoffs.

Wow is all I can say after scoreboard watching from the 7th inning on in the Brewers game, and listening to the radio feed of the Phillies game. It looked as if a Brewers loss would have given the Phils their pass into the playoffs, but the Brewers had other ideas. In the end, the Phillies wouldn’t be denied in 2022, especially given the fact that there are now 3 wild card teams in each league.

Beer and champagne filled the air (and was poured down the backs of many players) of the Phillies clubhouse following the Phils 3-0 victory. Nothing is sweeter than making the playoffs, the 11-year drought is over for the Phillies now the business at hand will be advancing to the next round. Phillies manager, Rob Thomson even noted that the team only has to win 13 more times and they will be World Series champions! What a thrill!

Kyle Schwarber hit his 46th home run last night in the victory, and had 2 RBI in the 3-0 victory over the Astros last night, are the Phillies starting to peak at the right time? Bryson Stott went 3-3 last night with an RBI. The Astros had their very cool “Space City” Nike ‘City’ uniforms on last night, they are really nice.

It was a long and sometimes frustrating regular season for the Phillies. They were up and down, but all that is behind us now as the team now shouldn’t dwell on the past but build on the future of what they can accomplish this weekend. It’s playoff time for the Phils and this writer couldn’t be happier for this team. Let’s see if Bryce Harper, Nick Castellanos, and Jean Segura can get loose in the playoffs and contribute to this team in Game 1 of the Wild Card playoffs, yet to be determined exactly where and when and against what team, but we know the Phillies are in!
