The Phillies have been playing very poorly for the past 5 or 6 games now, they are on a 4-game losing streak. The team seems like they have forgotten how to win. All of the good things they have accomplished seem to be a distant memory even though they still have a good chance to make the playoffs. They are still in the driver’s seat to make the playoffs, but do they want to go in playing this poorly? They don’t seem to have a choice in the matter.

Embed from Getty ImagesIt’s game 1 of the Blue Jays series, and the in-game score is now 7-2 Blue Jays as I write this. Is there any end to this skid that the team is on? The season record is still showing the Phils with 80 wins, and 14 games over .500 but they could be much better if the bullpen was a bit more strong, and of course starting pitching was improved.
Since June 1st, the team is 59-37 so that is encouraging. All is not bad with the team. But what is it going to take them to take it to the next level? We won’t know until the Phils play in the playoffs if that is what is going to happen with this team. Right now the Brewers are 2.5 GB in the Wild Card, but there are plenty of games left to play.
Consider this fact, going into play tonight, the Phillies have won 11 of their last 12 games at home at night. And the Phillies have quietly won 7 of their last 8 series at home. As I said, it’s not all doom and gloom.
