This is the season that the Phillies made moves to sure up the team and bolster the offense and pitching. Much money was spent by ownership to add pieces to the puzzle to make this team successful. We’ve seen glimpses of success, but other times to offset this, we’ve seen a lot of downtimes.
The Phils did have chances in last night’s game, but couldn’t get a run on the board:

Games like these could have been different if it were for the Phillies getting those timely hits, but at times they can’t get a hit.
Much has been said lately about the struggles by Nick Castellanos and JT Realmuto at the plate. JT really contributed the other night to break out the game and put that game out of reach. Again, these types of contributions have been few and far between.

The Phillies continue the 4-game series with San Diego on Saturday night, with Zack Eflin again taking the mound after getting roughed up on the last start he made. He’ll be going up against Blake Snell who is having a bad year at 0-4 with a 5.86 ERA so far.
