The Phillies seemed to turn it around right after manager, Joe Girardi, got let go from his position. In fact, they haven’t lost a game since. The offense has got the job done, and pitching has too as this team went from stumbling and fumbling to a fine-oiled machine.

So, this winning streak is super rare by the Phils, but this is exactly what they needed to do to get back into this race in 2022. This 9-game winning streak is so rare, it’s only been done 5 times previously, 2011, 2006, 1969, 1905, and 1892. If they win the 10th game in a row, the last time the Phils did this was 2009.
Kyle Schwarber has picked up his game in the last two weeks:

The Mets have stumbled a little lately, going 5-5 in their last 10 games. They are still 39-22 on the season and have a +63 Run Differential. The Phillies now have a +40 Run Differential
There have been interviews with younger Phillies players that seem to say they like the communication with the new manager, Rob Thomson, much better. They have been saying that even if they aren’t playing every day, they feel more in the loop about things. Maybe this is part of the turnaround, veteran players haven’t really said too much about the change in that regard.
After game upon game when the Phils were finding ways to lose the game, the tide has changed where now they are back to the winning side of things. No telling how long this will go on, but it’s refreshing to see this team starting to win consistently again.
The Phils go out today at 1:35 PM to try to sweep the Diamondbacks and win the 10th game in a row at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phillies have only won 10-games in a row just 4 times in franchise history:
