The Phillies picked up the first two wins on the schedule against the Oakland A’s with some of that explosive power we knew we were going to see this season. How much better can you start the season for Kyle Schwarber than hitting a long home run as the first batter of the 2022 season on Opening Day? And look who dropped in on the first game! The Phanatic made a dramatic entrance into the ballpark with several military skydivers, wow, I was sitting right near where they swooped into the stadium, it looked thrilling and very scary at the same time!

The Phils have shown that they can drive in runs as well in that first game win, yesterday they sort of lived on the long ball with the 4-2 win in Game 2 of the season, as the team was 0-6 with runners in scoring position.

The fan support is there as the whole tri-state area has really taken to the team with the first two games seeing over 40k fans for each game. It’s almost like the fans sense something great is going to happen for this team this year. It’s always an optimistic time at the beginning of the year, but the off-season spending on both Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos has really affected the fans. It just so happens that both players deposited the home runs in the first two games of the season.

Let’s see if the Phils can complete their first sweep of the season today for the first Sunday Phillies home game of the year. Zach Eflin will get his first start of the early season, he faces Daulton Jefferies for the A’s – Jefferies was 0-1 in 2020 and 1-0 in 2021 for the A’s.
