I wanted to write a ‘feel good’ story about the Phillies. Yes, I was very happy when the Phillies took the series from the New York Yankees at home. They were really playing like a team during this series, and of course the 3 walk-offs they won to get themselves above .500 in the standings. The highlights are below courtesy of MLB Film Room:
The West Coast road trip that the Phillies are on will tell a lot about this team, with the 3-1 loss last night in LA, the Phils are now again at that .500 mark, a place that this team just seems destined to be. David Price picked up his 2nd win of the season with just pitching 2 outs in an inning, but the Phillies had a ton of chances in this game, they were 1 for 11 for RISP during this game. They just couldn’t put together what they were doing at home in Philadelphia.
Rhys Hoskins, Andrew McCutchen, and Odubel Herrera went 0-10 combined at the plate last night. 15,761 took in a Monday night game in the City of Angels last night.
Phillies pitcher, Spencer Howard pitched 4 innings giving up 3 R in that time frame. That was enough for the Dodgers to win this one. His dad was in attendance last night to watch his start. Howard hit a nice double during the game.
With the loss, and the Mets win last night, the Phils lost some ground against the Mets that they had built with the wins against the Yankees. The Phils are now 4 GB behind the NY Mets who are 8 games over .500 at 33-25 on the season. Two more games against the Dodgers then a 3-game weekend series against the NL West leading San Francisco Giants.
