We know Manny likes to jog around the bases, I just prefer him jogging to first base though

If there was one guy I didn’t ever want to see hit a Grand Slam against the Phillies was Manny Machado (and I didn’t even see it, as it was too late to stay up for the late night game). Machado did just that though, he may not always run to first as the need suits him, but he smacked a HR last night for his Padres team that got the first win in the series against the Phillies.

All of a sudden, the alarm for the Phillies must be sounded, they’ve been playing terrible and now have lost their 4th game in a row on the West coast trip (5th in a row overall), they are collapsing faster than a house of cards. The Phils are now leading the NL East in the slimmest of margins, they are just a .5 up on the Atlanta Braves now, in a spectacular fall from where they were.

This game was being touted as Machado vs Harper but it was hardly that, it’s two guys that had a lot of hype built up around them, and got mega contracts but are either of them really worth it? You’ll have to decide that one for yourself, the fact is they got the mega deals that they were looking for. Machado from an unlikely source in the San Diego Padres, but that is just fine, I would rather see him stay in a place like San Diego.

McCutcheon gets injured on a play that Ian Kinzler made allowing a pop up to drop to the ground, that should be illegal to do, but it cost the Phils a double play and an injury

What has happened to this Phillies team, it’s like a black cloud has descended upon it and all systems are down. Offense is non-existent, pitching has deserted the team. It’s really a bad situation. For all the good the Phils were accomplished just a few weeks ago, it has all changed to bad news now. McCutcheon even suffered an injury last night, and depending on the severity, he may be out a while.

Aaron Nola got his first loss of the year last night behind the Machado Grand Slam and the 6 ER he gave up on the night.

This is an utter collapse by the Phils, we have to start mentioning that Phillies manager, Gabe Kapler may be at fault now, this is the second year in a row that we’ve seen the Phillies just dissolve before our eyes. Someone must start shouldering the blame, and you have to look at the manager at this point.

The Padres improve to 31-29 on the year, and I don’t think I’ll watch any of the games in this series, as I am not a fan of Machado at all. By the way, Manny’s WAR for 2019, 1.2 is this a $30M ballplayer?

This is the real Machado as we saw a couple of days ago:
