Cleveland Indians scalp Halladay and Phils

The past two starts for Doc Halladay looked promising prior to last night, a lot of the fears that Roy Halladay was either injured or somehow lost his ‘stuff’ were dissipating but those fears came back to the surface last night as the Indians launched three 2-run home runs against him on Tuesday night.

Here’s Roy’s game logs for the 2013 season:

Last night’s assault on Halladay was particularly hard to watch as he continued to hang breaking pitches up and batters were just teeing off on him at will. Roy lasted just 3.2 innings last night and gave up 8 ER on the night, which brought his season ERA up to 6.75 after his sixth start of the season.

The Indians weren’t done there with the Phillies though, they went on to make a statement and tacked 6 more runs on top of the 8 that Halladay was charged with and finished the night with a 14-2 scalping. This was the worst beating the Phillies have taken this year so far.

Delmon Young made his Phillies debut, and he hit a homerun in his first Phillies AB, Chase Utley added a homerun for the Phillies 2 runs in the game.

Chad Durbin also looked terrible last night in just 1.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, 4 ER, with letting up 2 HR on his night, his ERA is at 7.00 on the season, and Raul Valdes also gave up a pair of HR’s to bring his season ERA up to 7.98.

The Indians kicked off their 9 game home stand with this victory last night, and the Phils were coming off the three game sweep of the Mets but even after an off day in Cleveland, they returned to the diamond to one of the worst defeats for them so far this season.
