Ruf adjusting to outfield, slowly

Darin Ruf is not a natural outfielder, he is still only 26 though and with the Phillies, that is still very young to be playing on this team. Can he adjust to play a big league outfield? Most people think so, and even more want to see what kind of offense that he can put up this upcoming season.

Here’s the back of this morning’s Philly Daily News, and it looks like the writers may have picked up a new edge with zeroing in on Ruf.

Spring Training batting

Michael Young has a .211 average so far in Spring, Ben Revere is a .304 hitter so far, and Carlos Ruiz is still scalding hot hitting a .333 to continue what he started last year.

Yesterday’s action

The Phils rebounded against the Blue Jays yesterday, putting up double digits against them 13-5, as the Spring Training season rolls on. Today it’s at the Pittsburgh Pirates Spring Training facility at Pirate City in Bradenton, Florida. In another game yesterday in the Split Squad action, the Phils lost to Baltimore by a 12-3 score. Kyle Kendrick got the loss as he gave up 4 first inning runs.

The next home game that will be televised this Spring will be March 6th vs the Washington Nationals at 1 pm . Remember when they didn’t broadcast any Spring Training games? This certainly is a treat for baseball fans now that the Comcast Sports Network does.
