A win last night against the Washington Nationals extended the Phillies win streak to 3-games, as the bullpen pickups seem to have had a positive influence on the team. The Phils banged out 12 H last night in Washington DC and earned their manager his 1,000th win overall in his career. Joe Girardi started his managerial career with his old team the Florida Marlins for one season, and he then went on to manage the NY Yankees, where he got 910 wins in 10 years there.

We’ve seen the Phillies go on some win streaks earlier in this season, so we’ll see if this is just continuing that streak or are the Phillies finally playing better as a team. Just behind this win streak, the Phillies lost 5-games in a row. With only the month of September remaining, this quick season is nearing an important time of a team like the Phillies making every game count if they expect to make the playoffs.
