Aaron Nola couldn’t win a game from Aug. 20th – he’s had 7 starts since

At odds that hovered from less than 1 percent up to 3 percent for some time, the Phillies postponed the inevitable time when they would be eliminated totally from the playoffs in the afternoon by not winning ballgames. The Nationals put that to the Phillies in Game 1 of the doubleheader yesterday when they beat the Phils 4-1, and then reinforced it 6-5 in Game 2 of the matchup.

The talk of even being in the playoffs was a far off farce for this team, they didn’t have the right combination of players to get it done on the field. Now, they will battle to stay at .500 or better for the season.

Aaron Nola lost again, he hasn’t won a game for the Phillies since the middle part of August, every start that would be ‘counted’ on by Phillies management even backfired, the talk was we’d have a fighting chance each time he was on the mound, well we had a chance but we didn’t end up winning any of the games because of his starts.

Harper is well aware of postseason unhappiness, the Nationals will go to the playoffs again, but it won’t be with Bryce Harper, who signed on with the Phillies this year. The Nationals could handle teams like the Marlins, they had a 15-4 season record against them, where the Phillies struggled mightily against them. On the other hand, the Mets beat the Marlins in the season record 12-7 so go figure.

The talk of the Phillies going out and signing Nationals star Anrhony Rendon is completely ludicrous in this writers opinion, adding highly paid players isn’t the way to go for this team. We see what a lot of those type players have done on the field, which is fine, but the Phillies glaring need is pitching.

The season will be picked apart, will Gabe go or stay? Those are the immediate things we’ll see with this team. There will now be plenty of time to address it, the Phils season is over in regards to fighting for any playoff spot, not that they really even had a substantial chance, it’s just mathematically the team was still clinging to some sort of chance that they could (how ever far fetched that notion was) make the playoffs.

More baseball to end out this season to be played, it’s the Nats vs Phillies again at 7:05 PM
