Franco comes back to remind, he’s still a relevant player

Franco feels good in NY, I’ve said many times the Mets should have grabbed him from the Phils

Mikeal Franco returned to his 3rd base corner yesterday for the Phillies. I really don’t know why he fell so out of favor with this team and manager, but many games the Phillies did without him even on the team (he was sent down to the minors) and mediocre players were in his place doing the job he should have been doing all season long.

What’s good for the Goose …. Franco celebrates with Gosselin

Franco hit a HR yesterday against the Mets, it was his 7th of the year against the NY Mets team that probably never wants to see him arrive with the Phillies to Citi Field again. They may get their wish the way that Franco has been treated by the Phillies in the last couple of months.

The Phils uphill battle to the playoffs continues. It’s the Atlanta Braves tonight at home, yes those red hot Atlanta Braves. The Braves are 9-1 in their last 10 games, hopefully the Phillies can cool them down. We have Aaron Nola on the mound tonight in a matchup against Folty for the Braves. No, I don’t want to look up the spelling of his name 🙂

Odds for the Phillies making the playoffs are up to 5.8 percent, just remember the Phils must keep winning and the other wild card teams must lose to make it happen. We’re supposed to be watching the Cubs, Diamondbacks, and Brewers scores as they will have to lose while the Phils win to make good things happen.

Velasquez gets points yesterday for the Alonzo drilling, you have to answer the Harper HBP

Bryce Harper was back for a pinch hit last night, he’s day-to-day after that nasty HBP thrown by Steven Matz, the pitch didn’t look like one that got away to me. Vince Velasquez drilled Mets rookie Pete Alonzo yesterday with a pitch that hit his elbow protector. That may not have been a pitch that got away from Vince either. The bad blood between these two teams continues, but they won’t face one another anymore as the Phils have taken the season series, 12-7.

The kind of bad news is that we have many games left with the Braves, and the Phillies have to win, as was said before to have a chance. As it stands right now, the Phils and the Braves are knotted up 6-6 in the season series. Josh Donaldson has been the best player on the Braves so far with a 5.7 WAR- the Braves have 5 players above a 4.0 WAR on the season which is huge. So we’ll see what happens starting tonight at 7:05 PM at Citizens Bank Park.
