The Phillies really looked as if they were going to drop the third and final game of the series with the Cubs, they were down 5-0 late in the game, and then they whittled away the lead. One in the 8th inning, and then a 6-spot included a Bryce Harper mega Grand Slam to walk-off the Cubs. I usually hang in with games like this, preferring to watch a little of the post-game show for Ricky Bo’s analysis of the game.
What we saw last night was magical, it doesn’t happen that way often, a Grand Slam walk-off is about as rare as an eclipse of the moon. Harper got every bit of that ball that was launched into the second deck, and looked as though it may land in the 3rd deck of Citizens Bank Park.
Mike Schmidt use to do this, and Ryan Howard as well, the thrilling end to a game that is very memorable. This is precisely the reason the Phillies signed Bryce Harper, he earned his pay last night, providing the fans with a memory that will last a long time, and a timely Phillies win and sweep of the Cubs.
