Bryce is heating up for the Phils at the plate

You had to figure the Phillies were due for an offensive explosion, this team has been not putting runs up on the board lately, so last night was a polar opposite from where they were. The Phils went out and scored 11 runs on the night opposed to the Cubs 1 run. Bryce Harper fueled the scoring with 2 HR, as the Phils were a meaty 5-8 with RISP.

Charlie Manuel’s first day as Phillies hitting coach was in no way responsible for this, but maybe the players just thought they would show him a little of what they can do. After one of his HR’s Bryce Harper even brought Charlie a cup of water in the dugout. So that is a great thing that the Phils were able to bust out of a slump that they have been in.

Cole Hamels seemed like the had the same delivery as he always did, nothing had changed

Cole Hamels returned to the place where we was an MVP, the last time he pitched here was in 2015, the home town fans didn’t let him forget that they still have a very special place for him in their hearts as they gave him a standing ovation when he came up to bat last night.

So the Phillies are in position to sweep this series, they’ve held the Cubbies down incredibly in this series, none of their hitters have really done all that well in this series. The Phillies may be getting hot at the right time, Nola notched his 11th win, and it’s all smiles around Phillie fans land again. That’s what winning does. The Mets have been losing lately, and the Phils are 2 GB out of the Wild Card that Chicago currently has. They just need to keep winning and who knows?

It’s Smyly vs Darvish tonight at 7:05 PM at CBP.
