Phillies are all smiles after the win last night

The Phillies now just need to win, plain and simple to stay up near the top of the NL East. They are still tied with the Atlanta Braves behind the win last night at CBP, and the Braves won too, so there is still a tie for first. The Mets aren’t even at .500 on the year, but they are only 5.0 GB from the lead.

What the Phillies need is some consistency, there isn’t too much of that when it comes to winning ballgames, the Phillies aren’t a dominating wrecking crew kind of a team. They are finding ways to win at this time, but the concern is there for the overall picture that the team is projecting.

Josh Donaldson have sparked up the Braves, this fracas was on June 10th with the game against the Pirates

The Braves have ran off an 8-2 last 10 games and the Phillies have just managed 5-5 in their last 10 games. The Phillies schedule will soon shift to NL Division play, in fact on Friday, the Phillies will play the Braves and it will start a straight month of games between the Phillies and the NL East. What a better time to play the Braves, the team that the Phillies are tied with.

So far the Phils have played the NL East fairly well, with a 15-9 record, but things have changed since the last time the Phillies have played the NL East. Injuries have crept into the picture as well as some mediocre play. The Phillies offense seemed like it was a juggernaut for a while but has since cooled as well as the pitching.

Thursday is one of my favorite days to be a Phillies fan, the Phillies Phestival is on, here is some information on it:

PHILLIES PHESTIVAL THIS THURSDAY: Since the Phillies adopted ALS in 1984 as their primary charity, over $18 million has been raised for patient care and services in the Greater Philadelphia Area … Last year, a total of $725,050 was raised at the annual autograph and auction party to help strike out ALS – the devastating, always-fatal, progressive neuromuscular disorder … Over the last 35 years, players and their wives and girlfriends, coaches, broadcasters, front office staff and day of game staff have come together to host this special event … In 2016, the Phillies were awarded the Allan H. Selig Award for Philanthropic Excellence for the club’s organization-wide commitment to the cause.
