Beating Sale and the Red Sox may be the spark

Knapp gets his wheels moving and scores the winning run last night

To say it’s been a tough season for the Phillies would be an understatement. The team has been at the bottom of the MLB for some time now, they aren’t the same team that started out in April and enjoyed some early success.

Beating a very good pitcher last night, Chris Sale, and the Red Sox may be exactly what this team needs to get back on an even course.

Chris Sale was quick on the base paths last night, it’s a shame the AL has the designated hitter. Sale seemed like he wanted to play offense.

I had a feeling last night at the ballpark that the Phillies may well be able to beat Sale and the Red Sox. This Phillies team does buckle down at times and play like a different team. We’ve seen them play the top teams in the league pretty well at times this year.

The 1-0 win last night boiled down to the Phillies getting the key hit at the key time that they needed it and then the pitching holding up their end of the bargain hopefully last night what we saw was not a fluke.

Last night there were over 30,000 fans in attendance at the ballpark many of whom were Red Sox fans and they tussled back and forth with the Phillies fans quite well, at times it sounded like who could drown the other side out the loudest, all of this during the pitcher’s duel we were witnessing.

The Phillies now take on the Diamondbacks for a weekend series, the next week it’s still the homestand when the Cardinals come into town.
