Herrera went 4-5 for the Phils last night in AZ
Vincent Velasquez returned to the form that we’ve seen from him since the beginning of the season with a win last night in Arizona. It was the 6th win of the year for Velasquez. Vince returned from a 15-day DL from a biceps issue. He is averaging 10.8 SO per 9 IP on the season.
The Phils bats lit up the Arizona night last night and Odubel Herrera went 4-5 wtih 1 RBI while Maikel Franco was 2-5 with 3 RBI as the Phils have seemed to rediscover a little offense. Cesar Hernandez hit 3-5 and 2 RBI on the night. The Phils won 8-0 in the first game against the Diamondbacks.
Tonight, it’s Zack Greinke facing the hot Phils offense. I have never been a Zack Greinke fan, in his first 7 years with the Royals, he was 60-67. I don’t know how he made the turn to become one of the better pitchers in baseball after 7 seasons, his overall record now is 152-96 so, he really found something great after being in the MLB for a few years and winning the Cy Young in 2009, prior to that he really wasn’t that good.
Here’s how Greinke has looked throughout his career:
|162 Game Avg.||14||9||.613||3.36||36|
|KCR (7 yrs)||60||67||.472||3.82||210|
