The return of “The Freak”

Tim Lincecum is the scheduled starter for the San Francisco Giants tonight at CBP. He’s traveled the long road from relief pitcher in the World Series last year to starter again for the Giants after many thought he might be finished as a starting pitcher.

Lincecum is taking this chance very seriously to prove himself as a starter again. The Giants team traveled to the White House in Washington DC yesterday to meet the President for their winning the 2014 World Series, but Lincecum wasn’t there. He chose to get to Philadelphia early and continue his rest from his previous start.

Tim has seemed to be battling his own demons during the past couple years, getting caught with marijuana in his home state of Washington just a few years ago, and wearing his hair long with at times a ‘where’s Waldo’ hat on top of it to complete his strange look.

All that hair is gone now, it’s been reported that Lincecum is trying to get back to the pitcher he was when he broke into the MLB and just so happened to dominate the league for a couple years.

Maybe the fact that Timmy turned 30 plays into the part that he’s trying to clean his act up, he’s no longer that young kid he was when he hit the MLB back in 2007 at 23 years old. Oh, yes and the fact that his contract is up at the end of the year is another big motivating factor as well. How many times have we seen ballplayers in the last year of their contract really start to pick it up and care more about what they do?

He is a two-time Cy Young Award winner and that’s not that bad of an accomplishment for a guy who was in his mid-20’s at the time, it’s time though that will tell of the rest of the story with Tim Lincecum.
