Phils can’t get timely hits in NY

Severino Gonzalez pitched really well for the Phillies in NY, the offense couldn’t do the same

The Phillies lost their first game of the latest series in NY for Memorial Day 2015 against the Mets this afternoon.

Severino Gonzalez, Phillies rookie pitcher,  did his best in this game, and pitched well, earning 8 SO while giving up 3 R on the day. The Phillies offense again fell into a spell with Carlos Ruiz, Maikel Franco, and Odubel Herrera all turning in 0-4 on the day.

The bullpen gave up this game in the end, Justin DeFratus just didn’t look like he had much command today of any pitch, he gave up a long 3-run HR of which he was responsible for two of the runners that scored.

It’s the second straight loss for the Phillies who looked like a different team in Washington on Saturday afternoon, but now have quietly slipped back into their off-mode.

Bartolo Colon probably wishes he can face the Phillies more. He earned his 7th victory of the year, and it’s his 2nd win against the Phillies this year, the other coming on May 10th. Colon was just throwing hard with mainly fastballs but the Phillies couldn’t catch up to them most of the day.

Phils look to improve from this 6-3 loss with the next game on Tuesday night in NY at 7:10 PM, Jerome Williams looks to improve on his last outing in Colorado which he lost,  Williams will face the Mets ace Jacob deGrom.
