A happy fan and her dog on ‘Doggie night’ at CBP last night
The Phillies went to the dogs last night, literally. It was ‘Take Your Dog Out to the Ballpark’ night last night and a good time was had by all the pooches and their owners with that promotion. It was the first time that the Phillies did that promotion, despite this being a very successful promotion in many other ballparks over the years.
Well the doggies were sitting very nicely in their seats, and then the Phillies started playing like (excuse the term) dogs on the field. It was hard to believe that this was the same team that beat the Braves in 3 games straight just a few days ago. Time off for the Phillies is a really bad thing, it seems like they return from a day off and then don’t want to play. In fact, look at the All-Star break, there was a few days off for this team and they really didn’t play well when they returned to the diamond.
The final score last night was 8-2 and the Padres earned their 66th win of the year, which is the same amount of wins that the Phillies have so far. Padres’ pitcher, Andrew Cashner, fanned 7 Phillies batters and allowed only 2 runs on the night. Tyler Cloyd though just couldn’t get the rhythm going for himself, it seems that he may follow the trail of Ethan Martin, who now is relegated to the bullpen.
Roy Halladay‘s start is pushed back to Thursday, that’s a good thing because it’s going to be close to 100 or more with the heat index. Cliff Lee goes tonight for the Phillies, he is undoubtedly the best Phillies pitcher this year. Cliff is looking for his 13th win of the season.
