The Phillies have been short of terrible for the better part of 2013. Yes, there has been injuries and that is part of any Major League season, but the Phillies never seemed to have recovered this season from anything.
There hasn’t been a time in recent Phillies past that we’ve seen the team turn this bad for so long. The record of the team after the All-Star Break is a dismal 5-19 record after going 48-48 in the first 96 games.
Charlie Manuel has guided the Phillies since 2005, and he’s nearly managed the Phillies for 9 seasons now, and it’s appears that his tenure is just about coming to an end. Manuel’s frustration with this team is epic, he talks about not being able to do anything about the losing, and the way the team is playing.
Can Manuel last this whole season? It’s not his fault totally that the Phillies are playing poorly, but some time soon, there should be accountability for the last season and a half from the Phillies, and that accountability could be happening soon.
Here’s Charlie’s mangerial record so far:
|3||2002||58||Cleveland Indians||AL||1st of 2||86||39||47||.453||3|
|Cleveland Indians||3 years||410||220||190||.537||2.0|
|Philadelphia Phillies||9 years||1416||780||636||.551||1.8|
